Account Development Manager (Johannesburg office)

VF! Johannesburg is looking for Challenger Sales people. People who will work with our customers in a new way.

In the past we’ve brought great sales people into our business, relationship builders, go-getting sales staff, detailed and meticulous practitioners – all skills we value.

But we’ve come to realize we need a new breed of sales people. Sales people who are interested in bringing a unique and unexpected perspective into our customers’ business; not selling features and benefits of our products but insight, often into opportunities the customer hadn’t realized even existed.

Our challenger sales person needs to know their customers objectives and KPI’s, understand deeply our own offering and use this understanding to tailor the sales pitch, adjusting for the individuals’ bias and their business context.

Therefore our challengers need to be comfortable with tension, not give in to customers demands but able to push a customer to rethink what he or she is doing and challenge their mental models.

Our customers are global and local branded businesses, that are looking to make their brand and trade spend work harder and deliver higher ROI. They are Trade Marketers, Commercial and Marketing teams who are augmenting ATL campaigns with compelling and purposeful BTL solutions. And for them to be successful they need partners who can shape and influence their thinking through grounded insight that delivers growth.

Required education and experience:

  • Degree
  • >3 yrs selling experience B2B
  • Evidence of Challenger characteristics
  • POS / display selling (advantageous)
  • Organised and comfortable with managing admin tasks.
  • Well spoken and well written
  • A firm understanding of commerce (the sales world)
  • Target driven

Key accountabilities:

  • Meeting sales targets
  • Fostering delighted customers
  • Account management
